The End of This Semester

There are one and half weeks before this semester ends. Therefore, I have a lot of final exams recently. Looking back to the past half year, I was extremely busy because I have earned twenty seven credits this semester which was much more than most of my classmates. Nevertheless, I feel my life in university is substantial and splendid. Although there were many things needed to be done everyday, I was satisfied as I used my time well.

Beside school's assignments and reports, I also joined TzuChi Young Volunteer, a club that serves people who are in difficulties. I had met many friends who have the same thought with me there. I have beening getting too much from the society since I born and it is time for me to devote myself into the society. Though my power is little, I will definitely do my best.

There were so many memories in this semester. Time past by so fast. I wish I can send away my past with a thankful heart and greet my future with a reverent heart.

Legends of the Slik Road

Last week, my father, my brother, and I went to see "Legends of the Slik Road─Treasures From Xinjiang", an exhibition at National Museum of History.

Our main purpose, of course, is to see "The Beauty of Loulan", a female mummy which was found in Lolan in China. In the exhibition, there is a baby mummy, too. Due to the desert in Xinjiang is extermely dry, the bodies and the ancient things such as silk skirts, shoes, paintings, and figures can last completely for thousands of years.

The Beauty of Loulan is more beautiful than I think. Her skin is dark and bright which looks like leather. Her hair ,nails, skin and eyebrow can be saw clearly.

After watching the exhibition, my family and I went to see the Botanical Garden near the National Museum of History. It was a leisured afternoon, many parents brought their childerns and pets to the garden. There were also many painters and photographers who tried to catch the fantastic scenes in the garden.

Later, we spent the rest of our time in a Dante coffee shop. This is our favorite way to spend our time with family members.

It was a nice weekend I had.

College Life I Wish

Since I became a college student, I found that I have more time than before. So I decided to do more things which I seldom do in senior high school.

I force myself to read newspapers and magazines such as Business Weekly and Science everyday in order to keep myself well informed. I believe that through reading the autobiography and essaies, I can be a better and mature adult who is able to handle things wisely.

I also like to watch movies. Our library is abundant in movies. I can watch a lot of movies in the library. I get used to watching movies when we do not have classes. This semester, I am busy with lessons I took, so I only watch several movies. Nevertheless, I learn things in those movies.

Therefore, I hope I will have more time to watch the films , since I have less lessons in the next semester.

In conclusion, I am a freshman in the college, so I have to use my time well to learn more and to experence the world more. I hope I will do better in the future and hope I will keep my words.

The Bucket List

http://tw.movie.yahoo.com/movieinfo_main.html/id=2526
This is a movie leading by Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman who are my favorite actors that both won the Oscar award. It is story about two old men who wanted to accomplish their dreams and wishes.
One day on a philosophy class, the professor made every student write down the things which they want to see, want to do, and want to experience on a paper which called the bucket list. The old man in the movie made his bucket list when he was a freshman in the college. With his young and cheerful heart at that time, he wrote down his desires and hopes. However, time went by, a teenager became an old man. Work and life pressure suffered the man's body and heart. He had already forggoten his pureness and those dreams on the list.
Illness forced him live in the hostipal. At that time, he met another old man just like him. They found their whole lives were devoted to things they did not really want. At the end of their lifetime, they decided to seek their dreams. Therefore, they traveled around the world, drove airplane and roadster. The two old man only had one propose: "To live like themselves."
This is a movie I extremely want to watch since I saw its trailer on the television. There is its DVD in our library. But every time I try to find it, it was borrowed by the teacher!
To sum up, my recently hope is to see the movie after our final exam!

Sophie's World

http://www.books.com.tw/exep/prod/booksfile.php?item=0010006640
This Tuesday, we had a lecture course about philosophy. The teacher mentioned about a book named "Sophie's World" that aroused my memory about the book.

I had read Sophie's World when I was eleven years old. I still remember at that time, I borrowed this book at library just because its beautiful cover and its name. I had never thought about that this book had triggered my curiosity about philosophy. Besides Sophie's World, I later read several other books written by the author such as"The Children From Sukhavati " and "The Solitaire Mystery". All of the books are about philosophy. Those books had made me view things more deeply and widely since I was a little girl. Therefore, I would like to introduce you this great book.

Sophie's world is a famous philosophy book written by Jostein Gaarder which I strongly recommend.

It is a story about a fourteen years old girl, Sophie, came back home and found a mystery letter. There was only one line on the paper"Who are you?" "Where the world come from?"
Those questions motivated Sophie to think more. Later, she began to learn philosophy with the man who sent her the letters.

It is fun that the writer named the main character Sophie which means wisdom in Greek. Only those who have widom will seek for the truth.

This book uses an interesting way to guide readers follow Sophie to enter the door of philosohy.
Therefore, I inroduce you the book which worth reading.

Useful Concordance

Yesterday, our English teacher taught us a convenience way to learn the usage of words. We have learned a lot of phrases and words, but we only memorize them instead of knowing how to use them.

The teacher offered us some websites to find out how the words being used by people. We just have to key in the phrases or words, and then the system will search all its data bank for them. Without few seconds, hundreds of sentences are found. Therefore, we can see how the words were used in the magazines, reports ,or essaies.

Those websites are truely usefull to me. I have never thought of the way to learn words and phrases, but I have been troubled with the problem that I could not use the words I had learned for a long time. Consequently, I am thankful of my teacher.
